Tampouns totems
North-western direction, we cross forests of bamboos before arriving at the village of Voeune Saï located on left bank of Sé San; the sight on the Chinese village on other side of the river is particularly pretty. This place is besides almost a Chinese enclave in Kampuchean territory, the majority of the villagers, who are there since generations, do not indeed even speak Khmer. Upstream of Sé San are a certain number of Tampouns villages which practise the funerary statuary; if that is possible, we will rent a boat to return to us to the village of Ka Choan which conceals superb totems, in the contrary case, we will return there by jeep.

DAY 11: RATTANAKIRI (B))
The Kroeung territory
It is full North which we go up this day, in direction of Laos and the village of Taveng. We cross initially the curious wide one about volcanic rocks of Veyrum Plâng: a clearing opens in the forest, it is ridge of blocks of lava, with some steps of the clearing is a small cascade (in rain season only) surrounded of caves with tigers. We stop at then some very pretty Kroeungs villages located in the forest on both sides of the road.
The more we go up towards North, the more the majestic forest is beautiful. To two thirds of the way, in a turn on the right side a large Kroeung village is with (according to the season) of the particularly impressive houses of single people, let us note that when they filled their office and when the young man became head of household, these houses are destroyed before being rebuilt by young people at the following season. According to the hour and the state of the track, we join then a fall of water lost in the jungle where we have a picnic before going to explore the village which is in the vicinity.
Evening and night in Rattanakiri.

DAY 12 : RATTANAKIRI (B)
Zircon mines of the 3 Districts
You thought of having seen all as regards battered tracks... Coarse error! The track which carries out to the mines of the three districts is one of worst country: 35 km of ruts of 30 with 70cm of depth hiding stocks and other destroying branches of bottom of cases, bottom of the back and tanks. The vehicles which dare to undertake this "return towards the hell" are in general of old Russian jeeps at the end of the lifetime, their tires are often chained and their general aspect is very often extremely far away from the initial idea of their originator... Lastly, the caravan passes, here is essence! To through immense forests of hévéas planted by the French in 1961 then the jungle of Tampouns, you arrive at the 3 Districts, species of favela inhabited of 3 thousand people lost in the medium of the Kampuchean forest. This rush towards zircon transformed the place into an immense bored Gruyere of hundreds of well 60 cm in diameter by twelve meters of depth. The minors go down without any protection in these not supported wells and light there with the candle, the accidents are not rare. With two kilometers of the mines the river on the seven floors is thus named because it is cut of 7 rock stages formant falls of water where one bathes readily.
